Economist: press freedom under threat in Italy

Since the times of Mussolini that no Italian government had interfered with the media in a manner so clear and alarming. Journalists and other Italians, have every reason to protest. "

The Economist devoted to information situation in Italy in an article which covers the news in recent months, from claims advanced by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to "Unity" and "Republic," even to the case 'AnnoZero' and the demonstration for the freedom of the press issued for Saturday, October 3.

reviews of the weekly British are particularly severe: Italy's Silvio Berlusconi is moving away from Western Europe to resemble the weaker Eastern democracies. Then, the event was opened on 3 October to defend the freedom of the media is not far from a dictatorship, but just in Italy. And yet the 'orders' of Berlusconi seem part of a project to sweep away the last remaining rebel enclaves in Italy.
